It’s likely that the developers are focusing on the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine, and any new Spider-Man title will come much later. TG88 on Wolverine could be another contributing factor as to why Spider-Man 2 didn’t get any new story DLC. Even while foiling Kraven’s plans, Peter and Miles try to help their former adversaries find redemption. Like many of the game’s quests, the central premise transforms what you’d think superhero work typically looks like. After saving stolen artifacts for the museum, Miles remembers his departed father through his connection to jazz. “My dad really loved Charlie Parker… I guess I need to start listening closer to my playlist now,” he muses.

The game requires at least a GTX 1650 or Radeon RX 5500 XT to run properly at minimum settings. For a smoother and more visually immersive experience, an RTX 3060 or Radeon RX 5700 is recommended. That being said, I can’t help but have hoped for a few more flashes of Gotham City to make their way into New York. The main story took me around 18 hours to complete before I hit 100%, and the subsequent platinum trophy popped up to congratulate my efforts after 27 in total. Despite whatever loftier ambitions the story may have, this is still unapologetically an old-school approach to open-world game design, and nowhere is this displayed more clearly than in its optional quests.
While there are moments where the narrative will require you to control either Miles or Peter during specific scenes, there are also times when you can switch between the two on a whim. The choice is yours on how you want to use their specific powers to take on certain activities and crimes. So, don’t be surprised to see designated sections for Peter, Miles, Mary Jane, and possibly even Venom in the final game.
These characters do add a bit more flavour to the world and its largely homogenous population of NPCs you’re clearly not intended to look at too closely. Speaking of boss battles, that’s one area that takes a noticeable step up from our initial tangos with Kingpin, Vulture, and the rest. One of my criticisms of the first in Insomniac’s series was how uninspired many of the showdowns felt, with their quicktime-heavy fights making a light impact. Improvements were made in Miles Morales, but here in the full-fledged sequel, boss battles really come to life. You’re made to wait a little too long for them sometimes, but when they do arrive they never fail to excite.

After a series of catastrophic events, Miles has to battle Peter to remove the symbiote from Peter’s body. Miles initially helps rid Peter of the symbiote while Harry seeks to get it back. The symbiote re-bonds to Harry, who is resentful that Peter initially kept the symbiote to himself due to its malevolent influence on him.
