We’ll have more information to share soon, so be on the lookout for future updates. It has been a real delight to continue offering you, our valued fans, an extended Astro Bot experience at no additional cost. Free from the now-standard PlayStation Studios themes of threatening apocalypses, familial woe, and coming-of-age pains, Astro Bot is all about following a cheery little metal bloke around on his adventures.

It presents a picture of the past where PlayStation spoke to a more vibrant audience across different ages and tastes. Astro Bot confidently shows us that we don’t need to abandon that thinking just because tech has changed and the industry has grown. There’s still room for an expertly designed collect-a-thon platformer that’s filled with love and wonder.

It also looks and plays very much like a Nintendo game, which is the highest praise you could give any 3D platformer. [newline]Use the whistle (Triangle) to all call bots, then use Camera Mode (D-Pad Up) and move the camera around until you’ve found both explorers. You can try taking a picture as you may get lucky and they’re already close together, but if not walk over to either one and punch and kick them in the direction of the other. Once the two characters are near each other, snap a picture in Photo Mode (not the built-in PS5 screen capture) and unlock the Thick As Thieves trophy. One of Astro Bot’s hidden trophies is called “The Lost Eggacy”. To unlock rr99 , you need to find all three Golden Egg “artifacts” on the Dude Raiding world of Serpent Starway.

If you watch long enough, you’ll see that one of them is actually a generic bot. Eventually, you’ll find a platform that has a separate spiral platform to the right, a goop monster above, and a sand waterfall that’s covering a caged bot. To get in there and save the little guy, boost up, kill the blob monster, pull the lever it was sitting on, and jump down to rescue the bot. My only regret is that it’s a PS5 exclusive, and will probably always remain so. Astro Bot deserves a wider audience, but I’m not sure if that’s in the cards. I can’t imagine a game with such deep roots in PlayStation history would ever make it to other platforms.

Spooky Time Bot Locations

The greatest tribute I can pay to Astro Bot is that you forget about all of the PlayStation stuff going on while you’re playing it. Sure, it’s cool to see some forgotten classics in there (Wild Arms made the cut!), but you could take out the Kratos costumes and the game would be as brilliant as it is now. Though the nostalgia or PlayStation love in will eke up the excitement for some fans (and even put some off), it’s not a pillar of Astro Bot, nor is it going to be the reason fans keep replaying this for years to come. Unlike all of the other Astro Bot DLC stages, Winter Wonder is accessed via the Galaxy Select screen.

First, it release weekly speed-running levels to put your skills to the test, but now an entirely new world called Winter Wonder has dropped as a special holiday gift. This is a winter-themed paradise filled with presents, bells, and even more new bots to rescue. But not everyone can open this gift, so let’s talk about what you need to do before you can chill out in this new level.

From time-bending casinos to Japanese bath houses, each level brings novel mechanics and creative challenges that rival Nintendo’s finest platformers. A few months ago, Sony issued a free DLC (downloadable content) for “Astro’s Playroom” that connects the previous game with the new one. Since all PS5 consoles come with “Astro’s Playroom” for free, it’s more than likely that “Astro Bot” will become a big hit for Sony. This is because every console owner has played the previous installment and are likely to want more from the character. Team Asobi is the last remaining bastion of Japan Studio, the historically creative Sony studio responsible for the likes of Ico, LocoRoco, Gravity Rush, PaRappa the Rapper, and many, many more offbeat classics.

However, collecting all 300 bots, finding all secrets, and achieving 100% completion can extend playtime to 18+ hours. Unlike ASTRO’s Playroom, ASTRO BOT is a standalone, full-sized adventure that offers over four times more worlds, 300 bots to rescue and dozens of new powers and features to discover. And now, four years later, Sony released a full sequel simply titled “Astro Bot” — and it just won the Game Award for Game of the Year.

The sheen of the surfaces, slosh of the liquids, scale of the levels, and smoothness of the frame rate are stunning. The physics, as Astro sets piles of hundreds of shiny apples tumbling, or wades through a pool of gold nuggets, are just showing off. I feared it would be a bit of an advert for PlayStation dressed up as a video game – Sony’s own Pepsiman here for the memes and little else.

There are a few things we need to cover to understand the online reaction to Astro Bot. The first is the role that video games play in many people’s lives. The game features more than 50 diverse planets spread across six themed galaxies, each offering unique challenges and environments to explore. The crash site hub world has its own areas to explore and is packed full of quirks, such as eventually letting you customise your ship and outfit. The gacha machine mechanic makes a particularly enjoyable return, providing a satisfying way to spend the thousands of coins you’ll collect. It’s not brand-new for the series at this point, but still hits all the right spots.

A good game is a good game yes, but a game that may appeal to one person will not appeal to another. However reviews and scores you would think would then be balanced. I disagree that a platform game, however good, is a perfect score. Bug free and fun does not meet a 10 score, which I was perfectly capable of assessing at age 10.

Once the PS5 ship has crashed, Astro Bot will explore the space around the crash site. This is the hub world that allows you to unlock more of the galaxy map. You’ll track down a satellite-centric bot and it will ping the next destination. These are structured in a certain order, so you’ll need to beat each level to unlock the boss battle, something that requires a set number of bots to have been unlocked. Thankfully, should you return to a previously completed level, you can pay a small amount of PlayStation coin currency to have an assist bot show you where the remaining bots and puzzle pieces are.

Customers praise the graphics quality of the game, noting its amazing visuals and soundtrack, with one customer highlighting its high-resolution textures and vibrant worlds. Although we can’t match every price reported, we’ll use your feedback to ensure that our prices remain competitive. Find out about Astro’s origins and learn how to draw your favorite bot from the playful hands of team Asobi artists. ASTRO BOT is developed by Team ASOBI, part of PlayStation Studios.
